The percentage of red blood cells (RBCs) in your blood is measured during this examination.
When determining anemia, the existence of liver illness, bleeding disorders, and red blood cell synthesis within the circulatory system, a hematocrit measurement is helpful.
High level:
- Dehydration
- Lung or Heart Disease
Low level:
- Anemia or Lymphoma
What you should do:
High levels:
Phlebotomy reduces your red blood cell count and starts to bring your blood thickness closer to normal.
Low levels:
Consume foods high in iron and take a daily vitamin supplement to help prevent the causes of low hematocrit.
Red meat is a food source that is high in iron. Consult your Doctor.
