MCV (mean corpuscular volume)
July 2, 2023Platelet Count (PLT)
July 2, 2023The percentage of oxygen-carrying hemoglobin in each red blood cell (RBC) is calculated as the mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC).
High level:
- A high MCHC suggests that your RBCs contain more hemoglobin.
- Increased MCHC is typically more of a technical problem than a health one. A high level could result from RBC shape aberrations brought on by issues with blood sample collection, transportation, or storage.
Low level:
- A low MCHC suggests that your RBCs contain less hemoglobin. Certain kinds of anemia, such as iron deficiency or the inherited condition thalassemia, can cause decreases.
What you should do:
High levels:
Doctors usually treat autoimmune hemolytic anemia with corticosteroids, such as Prednisone. Also, you can increase iron and fiber in your diet, and get more vitamin B6.
Low levels:
Also, do the same thing but in balance.
Consult your Doctor.
